Mirror Test

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Plain answers about how Mirror Test works, what stays private, and what the report actually contains.

What is Mirror Test?

Mirror Test is a tool for getting honest, anonymous reflections from your friends. You make a private link, send it to people who actually know you, and they answer three short questions about you. Once enough people answer, an AI synthesizes their answers into a single portrait — your social mirror.

Is this anonymous? Will I see who answered?

Yes, it is anonymous, and no, you will not see who answered. We do not store names with answers. We do not show IPs, devices, timestamps, or any other identifier to the owner. We rate-limit per IP so the same person can't submit several times pretending to be different friends, but that's the only deduplication signal we keep, and you never see it.

How many friends need to answer before I get a report?

The first reflection unlocks at five responses. A sharper version unlocks at fifteen. The full version unlocks at forty. The tiers exist so the AI has enough signal to synthesize honestly — five answers can describe a trait; forty answers can find a contradiction.

Will the AI just flatter me?

No. The model is explicitly instructed to stay close to what was actually said and to refuse to invent traits the answers don't support. It will name patterns directly, including ones that might sting a little — the contradiction section and the blind-spot section are the parts most owners report as the most useful.

What does the report actually contain?

An archetype (a short literary descriptor), a one-sentence mirror, a section on how people feel around you, your strongest signal, a contradiction, what people trust about you, what people are quietly afraid for you about, a blind spot, the gift you bring to a room, and a final reflection. Plus pull quotes drawn from the actual answers.

Can I delete my mirror and all the answers?

Yes, on demand. Email us and we hard-delete the encrypted ciphertext from the database. There are no accounts to chase, no soft-delete, no recovery period.

Are my friends' answers used to train AI models?

No. The answers are passed once to the model that generates your report and are never used as training data — not by us, not by the model provider. The full text is encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM.

How long does it take?

Creating a mirror takes about thirty seconds. Most people get their first unlocked reflection within a day or two of sending the link to friends, depending on how many friends answer.

Is there a free version?

It is free. There is no paywall on creating a mirror, collecting answers, or generating a report.

Can I share my report publicly?

Only if you choose to. There is a public-share toggle in your dashboard that creates a soft public version of your report (just the headline parts, never the raw answers). Off by default.

What happens if I lose the link to my mirror?

Use the recovery flow on the sign-in page. Enter the email you used when creating the mirror and we'll send a magic link that restores access on whatever device you click it on.

Who built this?

A very small team interested in the question of how honestly people see each other. If you have feedback, every report page has a feedback link, and the contact page works.
